RNTC Scholarships 2021 Is Out Online | Apply Now Before Deadline

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides two types of scholarships to media and communications professionals from a variety of partner countries. These include the Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Scholarship Programme (MSP).

Scholarships

These are OKP and MSP:

• Orange Knowledge Programme, or OKP (formerly known as NFP), which is available to 53 countries.
• MSP, which stands for MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Scholarship Programme, which is available to 10 countries.

Both scholarships are administered by Nuffic (the Netherlands Organisation for International Cooperation in Higher Education) and include a contribution towards:

• Cost of living
• Course fees
• Visa
• Travel
• Insurance

All you have to do, is cover any differences between actual costs and the OKP or MSP scholarship contribution.

Eligibility

• Register with RNTC to check that you are eligible for the course you would like to do. You can register for a course by selecting a course. Make clear in your registration that you are intending to apply for an OKP or MSP fellowship. Note that you can only apply for a scholarship for your chosen course during the scholarship application window for that course. There are two or three of these scholarship windows open every year.
• Once you have submitted your registration, RNTC will inform you by email whether you are eligible for a scholarship or not (usually within 10 working days).
• If you are eligible for the scholarship, RNTC will send you a link by email to apply for an OKP or MSP fellowship in the Delta online system. This is where you complete your scholarship application.

Criteria for an OKP scholarship

• Great news! The OKP program has no age limit.
• It’s not as complicated as you might think! Just do some research, read a few documents, get a couple written statements together and Boom! You’ve ticked all the boxes. So, what exactly is involved?

Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you must also meet the following requirements to be eligible for the OKP (formerly known as NFP) scholarship:

1. You are a national who lives and works in one of the countries on the Nuffic OKP list which you can find here.

2. You have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided (i.e. it should provide all requested information and endorse all of the required commitments)

3. You have an official and valid passport

4. You are not attending two or more courses at the same time

5. You can provide a Government Statement in the format Nuffic has provided, should one be required. Check here to see if you need one.

6. You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development, such as:

• Multinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft)
• Large national and/or large commercial organisations
• Bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch ministry of Foreign affairs, FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid)
• Multilateral donor organisations (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB)
• International NGOs (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care)

Special Note: Please check the OKP Country Focus document, and try tailor your application around it. If you are nominated for a scholarship for an RNTC course, the Dutch embassy in your country will evaluate your application not only on its own merit, but also on how it fits in with the embassy’s Country Focus.

Criteria for an MSP scholarship

• This is not rocket science either. But, unlike OKP, the MSP scholarships have an age limit of 45. If you’re not over that, then it’s your lucky day!

So, what exactly is involved? Apart from the RNTC course admission requirements, you must also meet the following requirements to be eligible for the MSP scholarship:

1. You are a national of and live and work in one of the following Middle East and North African (MENA) countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria* or Tunisia

2. You have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided (i.e. provides all requested information and endorses all of the required commitments)

3. You have an official and valid passport

4. You are not attending two or more courses at the same time

5. You can provide a Government Statement in the format Nuffic has provided and that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established (if applicable).

6. You are not over 45 years of age at the time of the scholarship application deadline

7. You must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff-development, like:

*If you are a Syrian national, please note that the MSP is ONLY open to applicants of Syrian nationality who are residing and working outside of Syria in one of the other selected MENA countries.

How To Apply

Start in time with your RNTC scholarship application. Apply early as you will need to complete your application in two phases and the registration on our website is just the first eligibility phase.

In 3 steps, you can apply for a course in January 2021 via the scholarship programme: 

1. Register your interest: select your country and follow the prompts
2. Check your email for the link to Nuffic’s Delta system 
3. Lodge your application in Nuffic’s Delta system
