Applications Open for IFBA Global Mentorship Program v2.0 (2023)
The IFBA Global Mentorship Programme is a worldwide initiative to support and sustain the international biosafety and biosecurity community.
Entering its third official programme cycle, the programme has achieved considerable outcomes and a positive reputation as it builds global biosafety and biosecurity capacity. Following extensive feedback from past participants, as well as consideration of emerging priorities across the global biosafety and biosecurity landscape, selected changes to the programme’s content and delivery have been implemented for 2023 to ensure maximized programme impact and sustainability.
IFBA Global Mentors will remain invaluable technical resources for mentees in their region, with at least two IFBA Professional Certifications. They will help contribute to an online mentorship community by collaborating with other mentors and mentees, writing short technical briefs about foundational and emerging topics in global biosafety and biosecurity, as well as guiding their mentees through group projects or papers throughout the programme cycle.
Benefits
- IFBA Global Mentors and Mentees are brought together to discuss regional and global issues and opportunities pertaining to biosafety, biosecurity, and biorisk management.
- Mentees will receive guidance in obtaining IFBA Professional Certifications and other career developing skills, and mentors may put their experience towards renewing their existing IFBA Professional Certification.
Eligibility
- Open to emerging biosafety professionals from around the world.
- IFBA Mentee applicants do not need to have an IFBA Professional certification.
How To Apply
To apply, Global Mentors must have the following:
- At least two (2) IFBA Professional Certifications;
- An up-to-date copy of their professional CV;
- Two (2) letters of recommendation from an employer, supervisor, or similar; and,
- A completed IFBA Global Mentor application, available here.

- An up-to-date copy of their professional CV;
- One (1) letter of recommendation from an employer, supervisor, or similar; and,
