ABOUT GMAT

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a widely accepted admission procedure for graduate business school aspirants. ELIGIBILITY

There hasn’t been a fixed eligibility criterion yet from GMAC but you’ll need to read the criteria for the university you will be applying at.

1. You need to have graduated with a degree from a recognized university for MBA.
2. Candidate must be 18 years of age and above and by above I mean anyone above 18 years is eligible to write the exam. Anyone below 18 years will need legal permission to take the exam.
3. You can write the GMAT irrespective of your nationality.

GMAT EXAMINATION FEES

The examination fee varies according to nationality. For applicants in India, the examination fee is R250

• Examination fee for USA – $257
• Examination fee for UK – £225
• Examination fee for European countries – €250

Payment can be made online and offline through GMAC accepts Visa, Master Card, American Express, Discover Network cards.

CANCELLATION FEE

It should be noted that no alterations or cancellation can be made within 24 hours of the scheduled time but the cost for cancellation vary according to the time frame and are listed below:

• Above 60 days to the exam – $100
• From 15 to 60 days to exam – $75
• Less than 14 days to exam – $50

RESCHEDULING FEE

Before scheduling for the exam, candidates should be sure that the timeframe will be enough for their preparation to avoid extra costs.

• Less than 14 days to examination – $150
• From 15 to 60 days to the exam – $100
• Above 60 days to exam – $50

HOW TO REGISTER FOR GMAT

Here are a few data you will need during registration

1. Create your account on mba.com if you are registering online and/or call GMAT customer service in your region for assistance (you may be charged $10).
2. From the GMAT handbook, look up application deadlines for your school in the registration and score reporting timeline to enable you to decide your examination date and schedule a day that is most comfortable.
3. Disabled candidates will not need to schedule an examination date until the disability accommodation is approved.

Note: You might have to wait up 48 hours after registering to manage your appointment.

GMAT EXAMINATION DATES

In scheduling your examination date, you need to first of all source information using the GMAT handbook and from their official website. With the information, you will gather, build your timeline. Check for locations of the nearest examination centre. Add more time if you will need an accommodation test or if you are applying by mail. Then schedule a date and time for the appointment. You can do that online via mba.com or you could contact the customer service for assistance which could cost as little as $10.

GMAT EXAMINATION PATTERN

The examination usually takes 3 1/2 hours to complete, including two optional breaks, and has four sections, two of which are computer-adaptive but the areas of assessment include;

1. Analytical Writing Assessment: Which is a test that determines your ability to think critically and express your ideas, the time frame is 30 minutes 1 question 0-6 (in 0.5-point increment).
2. Integrated Reasoning: Which tests your skills to resolve data and compute information dictated in large forms which takes 30 minutes and has 12 questions, 1 -8 (in 1-point increments).
3. Quantitative Reasoning: Measures your ability to use your reasoning to draw accurate conclusions. This section takes 62 minutes and 31 questions 6-51 (in 1-point increments)
4. Verbal Reasoning: Using written materials, you’ll be tested to measure your ability to read and understand those materials and to use them to build up values that correspond with written English. Verbal reasoning takes 65 minutes with 36 questions 6-51 (in 1-point increments).

GMAT SCORE CALCULATION

The aggregate GMAT score is calculated by adding scores from your Quantitative and Verbal reasoning sections. These sections are recorded on a scale from 6 to 51 points, and the compound score is calculated on a scale of 200 to 800 points.

The adaptive nature of the test is like a word game or chess game the more questions you answer correctly, the more hard questions you are presented with. This is to determine your ability to think critically and present correct answers in a short time.

HOW TO ACCESS GMAT REPORT

You do not need to worry about how to access your score report because the reports are usually within 20 calendar days of your GMAT exam.

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Pearson VUE will send an email once your scores are ready, you may view, download, or print your Official Score Report, by visiting My Account or you could ask for assistance by contacting customercare@mba.com.

GMAT SCORE VALIDITY

The good thing with GMAT is that scores are valid for ten years and after this duration, it faces expiration. So you could start sending your scores to various universities of your choice once it is reported.
