TOEFL and IELTS are the two most popular English test of which TOEFL is accepted by more than 11000 universities and in over 190 countries in the world. TOEFL is the one test that measures all 4 English skills which include; reading, listening, speaking, and writing just like the way you were assessed in elementary school.

Why You Should Write TOEFL?

Top universities in America use the TOEFL course as a matrix to admit non English speakers into universities in the US plus the test score is valid for two years.

Considering the fact that lots of universities in English speaking countries view this as a requirement because this test focuses on how English is used in a classroom setting. I have written TOEFL before and realised English wasn’t what I thought it to be, its quiet technical, I had to sit before an English speaking native, for real, heard the way he accentuated each word and I thought, “cool, just where my mistakes have laid.”

Its good you take the test if you wish to study in any top English universities in the US as lots of universities use the score on this test to judge how good you are with the four fundamental classroom skills. Aside from writing the exam because you need to be admitted, some people write the test to know just how good their English language is.

Types Of TOEFL

There are three main types of TOEFL; Paper based test (PBT), Computer based test (CBT) and the internet based test (iBT). The paper based test was used until 1998 when the computer based test was introduced; it featured listening comprehension, reading comprehension and grammar while the computer based test featured reading, listening, grammar and writing. The internet based test came in 2005, and has since taken the lead though its still a computer based test.

Who Writes TOEFL?

From transfer students to students who wish to study in the US but then not just anybody can write TOEFL. There are countries that have been exempted from taking the test and others that need to write SAT or IELTS but not TOEFL.
