The Sibona Ilanga Trust is offering students and young people out of school an opportunity to study further at South African tertiary education or training institutions including public or private TVET colleges, universities of technology or academic universities.
The Sibona Ilanga Trust is a community trust that owns shares in the De Aar Solar Power plant for the benefit of communities within a 50 kilometre radius of the plant. It believes that everyone in its communities should have an opportunity to reach their dreams. One way that the Trust expresses this, is by powering young people to advance.
The Trust has invested R5.9 million which equates to 63 bursaries. This allowed 39 students from its communities to pursue their dreams.
Students intending to or currently studying towards NQ4 level 4 in technical and vocational education and training programmes, or for national diploma and degree programmes are invited to apply for a bursary. Young people who completed their NSC or NTC previously but are not currently studying can also apply.
Criteria For Applicants
- Must be a South African Citizen
- Not older than 35 years
- Must reside within 50km radius of De Aar Solar Power plant
- Must be accepted to study at any recognised public or private South African tertiary education or training institution
- Matriculation is NOT a requirement.
Documents Required
- Copy of I.D
- Proof of household income
- Proof of acceptance at a tertiary institution
- Proof of residence
