About KEMRI

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in Kenya in 1979 through the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya operated under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out research in human health in Kenya. Currently, KEMRI operates under Legal Notice No. 35 of March 2021.

Kenya Medical Research Institute Internships 2025

The Institute is committed to providing the youth with opportunities to acquire, sharpen their knowledge and gain technical/practical skills to complement their studies in order to enhance their employability in line with the Kenya Vision 2030.

The KEMRI Internship Program (KIP) seeks to develop a pool of young talent adequately exposed to working in the research industry. After the planned internship program, the candidates will have gained practical workplace experience to enable them to have a competitive edge in their job search.

In addition, the applicants must:-

• Have graduated and in possession of the above-mentioned certificates.
• Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age;
• Provide a Certificate of good conduct; and
• Should not have undertaken any other Internship or exposed to work place experience related to their area of study since graduating.

Personal Attributes

• Should possess interpersonal, communication and strong analytical skills
• Must be goal oriented, dynamic, passionate and self-starter
• A person of integrity
• Must be computer literate.

Please Note:

• The Internship engagement WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of the program.
• A monthly stipend of Kes. 25,000/= and Kes. 15,000 for Bachelors and diploma holders respectively will be given without any other benefits.
• Interns will be expected to take up a personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover.
• INCOMPLETE applications will not be considered
