Uni-assist is a mechanic adopted by universities in Germany to aid them to process international student applications. They also provide assistance to international students who wish to apply to universities in Germany.

To avoid misunderstanding the concept, here is the cut-out, universities usually evaluate student applications and decide which students are admitted, uni-assist processes the application materials and facilitate the admission process.

How Does Uni Assist Facilitate Admission Processes For German Universities

  • Uni-assist evaluates official certificates to determine if they meet the criteria for studying in Germany.
  • Convert grades (GPA) to the German grading system.
  • Check the admission requirements of your universities of choice.
  • Registers all data and documents required for the University of your Choice’s Admissions Procedure.
  • Informs about the evaluation results.

For many English-taught degree programs in Germany, international students do not need to apply via uni-assist, but directly at the university while most universities only use uni-assist to verify the documents required to apply.

Once students have their documents verified by uni-assist, they receive a ‘Pre-Review Documentation’ which they then send, along with the application and required documents, directly to the university.

The VPD (in Germany) is a certificate used by uni-assist that students must submit directly to the university when they apply before the application deadline expires.

The VPD contains information on which educational certificates you presented to uni-assist, the university entrance that is possible with these certificates, and how uni-assist rates your grade within the German system of grades. It should be noted that the application is still done directly through the university even though students must have their documents verified by uni-assist.
