About Tanzania Bureau of Standards

Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) is the national standards body for Tanzania established by the government as part of the efforts to strengthen the supportive infrastructure for industry and commerce sectors across the economy within the country.

General Conditions

1. Applicants must be Tanzanians;

2. Applicants must attach an up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV) having reliable contacts; postal address, e-mail, and telephone numbers;

3. Applicants should indicate three reputable referees; one referee must be from the Academic Institution where he/she graduated;

4. The maximum period for individual programs is one year, no intern shall be reappointed as the Bureau’s intern after the completion of the one year;

5. All interns who conducted or are currently conducting an internship program at TBS are ineligible to apply.

6. Applicants must attach their certified copies of the following certificates;

  • Degree and respective Transcripts;
  • Diploma/ Certificate;
  • Form IV and or VI National Examination Certificates; and
  • Birth certificate or National Identity Card;

7. Attaching copies of the following certificates is strictly not accepted;

  • Form IV and Form VI Results slips; and
  • Testimonials and Partial transcripts.

8. Certificates from foreign examination bodies should be verified by the relevant authorities (TCU, NACTE or NECTA);

9. Presentation of forged certificates and other information is prohibited otherwise it will result in disqualification and legal action;

10. Applicants must attach a letter of endorsement from a Local Government Chairperson or Executive Officer confirming their place of residence;

11. Applicants must attach a brief paper stating the reasons for the need for an internship and the expectations after a year;

12. Only qualified candidates will be informed of the interview date;

13. Successful and accepted interns shall not be paid salaries or any remuneration attached to salaries instead they will be assisted with some amount of money to cover transport and lunch expenses;

14. Internship practice is not a guarantee for employment at TBS. In case there are employment opportunities at TBS or elsewhere, interns shall follow the laid-down employment procedures as stipulated;

15. Please write the title of the post you are applying on the envelope;

16. Application letters must be signed and handwritten in English;

17. Any application that will not follow the above conditions will be termed as disqualified.
