A career opportunity for a Reinsurance Controller has become available in the Corporate Services Finance team, based in Santam Head Office, Bellville, Cape Town.
The purpose of this role is to provide financial support to the Reinsurance Buying Department and be the source of financial information and the link between the various business partners and Santam.
The successful incumbent will also actively participate in fulfilling the daily functions and various reporting needs both internally & externally.
What will make you successful in this role?
Financial performance reporting
- Financial reports for the fronting, inter group/inter SBU transactions.
- Compiling of Financial Performance Reports for Stakeholders.
- FSB Reporting
- External audit reporting
- Review and approve technical accounts and payments to ensure the completeness of transactions to RI brokers/reinsurers.
- Assisting with the implementation of IFRS and Reinsurance Optimization Projects.
- Validation and control function of monthly reconciliations.
- Verify variances of underwriting results against budgets.
- Management of Reinsurance Contracts.

- Relevant accounting degree or Reinsurance Qualification
Knowledge And Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role.
- Reinsurance knowledge – understanding of reinsurance terminology and interpretation of contracts.
- Financial management knowledge.

- MS Office suite with advanced Excel skills
- Credit control and reconciliation
- Processing of financial transactions up to balance sheet

Santam Operations, Personal Lines Contact Centre, have a career opportunity available for a Client Service Consultant based in Auckland Park.
A Client Service Consultant is responsible for the provision of new quotations or the execution of policy specific amendment requests, while adhering to underwriting criteria and profiling the client. The Client Service Consultant is furthermore responsible for advising clients on all aspects of their policy needs.
What will make you successful in this role?
This role is focused on, but not limited to; servicing broker requests, including enquiries.
- Execute broker request within agreed timeframes, quality standard and legislation guidelines;
- Dealing with issuance of new policies or policy maintenance amendments;
- Dealing with general insurance and policy specific enquiries or sales thereof;
- Managing client expectation on expected turnaround times for submitted requests;
- Ensuring and delivering accuracy of broker requests;
- Providing effective, efficient and professional service to all clients both telephonically and/or through written correspondence;
Qualifications
And Experience
- Matric
- FAIS compliant: NQF level 4 consisting of a minimum of 30 credits
- Minimum 2 year Personal Lines contact centre experience in a short-term insurance environment
- Experience in a client service environment
- Experience in contact centre technology applications
- Good understanding of basic financial principles, e.g. profit, growth, etc.
- Good understanding of contact centre processes and SLA’s
