Railways Training Institute (RTI) is one of the oldest institutions in East Africa. After the dissolution of East Africa Railways and Habour in 1976, the institute became fully owned by Kenya Railways Corporation, offering only railway courses.

Railways Training Institute has undergone a transformation over the years through which various reforms have been implemented.
