We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Library Assistant

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Location: Meru

Job Field: Education / Teaching

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide audio-visual information services
  2. Support students and staff to access E-books and online journals
  3. Coach and train students and staff on information searching and retrieval
  4. Provide selective dissemination of audio-visual information to students and staff
  5. Ensure audio-visual collection is well arranged for ease of retrieval and utilization
  6. Collect and upload past examination papers on KeMUwiki
  7. Provide online past examination papers information services to DLM students
  8. Shelving and shelf reading
  9. Charge and discharge information materials to students and staff

Minimum Requirements

The suitable candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Diploma in Information Studies (Library and Information Science)
  2. Relevant working experience from an institution of higher learning
  3. Good organizational skills
  4. Proficiency in ICT skills
  5. Good communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Working knowledge in KOHA
  7. Working knowledge in Dspace
  8. Adequate knowledge in Audio-visual Information Sources and Services
  9. Conversant with training users on e-resources.

Job Title: Hostel Attendant

Employment Type: Full Time

Qualification: BA/BSc/HND

Location: Meru

Job Field: Hospitality / Hotel / Restaurant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Enforce code of conduct and KeMU values in the hostels and report breach.
  2. Perform regular checks on security around hostels and within the hostels to ensure safety is guaranteed to the students;
  3. Ensure cleanliness in the hostels for purposes of having the hostels clean and safe for students’ accommodation;
  4. Inspect the hostel rooms, entire building and equipment on a daily basis to ensure operating standards in the hostels are as per the requirements;
  5. Report matters of repair and maintenance to relevant authority after inspection of the rooms to ensure the hostels are in good working conditions;
  6. Ensure room allocation to students is undertaken to provide accommodation to the students every semester in line with the University policies.
  7. Provision of basic first Aid when necessary.
  8. Keeping up to date records of halls and accommodation: Room allocation, Key catalogue, Students check in and out.
  9. Keeping in close know of some counseling cases with advice from student counselor
  10. Any other related duty assigned by dean of students or related Authority

Minimum Requirements

The suitable candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Certificate in Housekeeping or Facility Management.
  2. KCSE level of Education with at least Grade D+ or equivalent with three (3) years’ experiences in Halls of Residence or related institutional setup.
  3. Be physically fit.
  4. Have a certificate of good conduct from the Kenya Police
  5. Have a clean record of service
  6. Applicants must have proven integrity, assertiveness, alertness and compliance to orders.

  3. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission
  4. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau
  5. Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct)
  6. Certificate of Good Conduct from Criminal Investigation Department.
  7. Letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes) from at least three persons familiar with the applicant’s professional experience and general character one of whom must be the pastor of their local church.
