How To Get ADEK Approval for Teachers 2025
The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) which was formerly the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Arabic: مجس أبو ظبي التعليم) ل was established in 2005 by the UAE’s President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is the seat of educational authority for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
ADEK is the arm responsible for the management and administration of the emirate’s public schools and allots licenses, monitors, and inspects the private schools in the Emirate. Education in Abu Dhabi has been rated amongst the best in the world; thanks to qualified and seasoned teachers that are employed in the department plus you need to know that the employment process is highly competitive with these schools reaching only for the best of the best.
How To Apply
You need to apply through the Ministry of Education’s job portal if you intend to apply for a teaching position at one of the UAE government schools, while you will need to approach the school administration if you are applying to a private school.
You could equally apply by;
- Submitting a formal application through the Higher Education Authorization Portal to the school.
- The application must be by ADEK’s Authorization Procedures and must include all relevant evidence requested.
Requirements To Apply For ADEK
- Native English speaking fluency
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree/PGCE or the equivalent
- Teaching Qualification (licensed/certified to teach in-home state/country)
- Minimum of two years teaching experience at the relevant level
The aforementioned requirements are the recommended requirements for all public school teaching jobs in Abu Dhabi. Also, to pursue a teaching profession in the UAE, applicants must have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree or a 4-year university degree or higher in the required field. This rule applies to public/government schools and private schools in the UAE with other conditions including;
- A criminal clearance record
- A medical fitness report from the UAE
- An original copy of your educational certificates (attested certificates) in case the educator has graduated from a university outside the UAE; the certificate must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the country’s embassy in the UAE.
How To Receive Approval
To submit a request for approvals, you need to;
- Consult with the portal before submitting any applications.
- Get affiliated with a recognized Higher Education Institution in the proposed fields of study (for new providers)
- Submit a formal application through the Higher Education Authorization Portal to the school administrative council.
Note: The application must conform to ADEK’s Authorization Procedures and must include all relevant evidence as failure to comply with the aforementioned steps could result in the rejection of the application.
How Long Does The Approval Take?
Teachers usually had to travel from their respective countries to Abu Dhabi to confirm eligibility status but they can now effortlessly do this from the comfort of their homes plus it used to take two months to receive approval letters but now, it takes roughly ten days with Pass.
What Does The Issuance Of Approval Authenticate?
The issuance of approval (with No Objection Letter) confirms that you’ve been able to meet the strategic imperatives of Abu Dhabi and that your application has undergone scrutiny, which includes expert advice from an External Review Panel.
After receiving receipt of approval (No Objection Letter), you can proceed and apply for accreditation to the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) at the UAE Ministry of Education (MoE). The application for accreditation should be by the MoE procedures and include the No Objection Letter.
