Step By Step Guide On How To Pass Literature In JAMB 2025
If you stumbled on this page because you entered this command above, then I believe you’re about to take one of the most important steps in your life, which is writing jamb, and this could o my mean you’ve successfully passed your WAEC examination. Congratulations on that.
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) was established in 1978 to usher candidates who pass the University Matriculation Examination (UTME) into the university after some other prerequisites have been fully met.
Literature is one of the juiciest subjects in secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigeria, take it from me. As much as it is interesting, and helps students think critically and creatively, it is also one of the most competitive. Thus, to pass this examination, you need to put in your very best.
How To Pass Literature In JAMB
1. Make Use Of the Jamb Examination Syllabus
It is glaring that most UTME candidates are not aware of the importance of the JAMB syllabus. If the examination body took pains to create a document that contains topics or areas of concentration, then you should know they mean business, and that questions will likely stem out of the topics written on the document.
Adding that, after registering for the JAMB exam, each candidate is given a CD, or a hardcopy syllabus to go through. Please, go through the syllabus, and read the topics you find in it because questions will come out of each h topic.
The importance of the syllabus is so you don’t stay completely in the dark regarding what kind of questions you should expect. So, help yourself go through the syllabus and get yourself prepared.
2. Read Recommended Textbooks
One mistake some candidates make is that they hope to pray their way into the university without reading. Don’t get it wrong, prayer works, but as you pray, back it up with fierce reading. Prayer without work is dead.
Under the examination syllabus for each subject, there is usually a long list of recommended texts students should go through, get, and read through. Recommend texts for Literature is usually about genre pieces ranging from fiction and nonfiction, prose, poetry to drama. As long as you know your onions, you’re sure of passing the Literature examination. Hence, try not to neglect JAMB Recommended textbooks.
3. Get Past Questions
Some of my friends gained admission by reading through past questions. You should know that oftentimes, questions are repeated and that’s the importance of past questions, it helps you have a clue of what questions you may likely see.
If you can lay hold of past questions from previous years, get as much as possible and read through them, note the correct answers and the wrong ones, and get yourself ready. I won’t, Sha, read as though your whole life depends on it, but I’ll say read as though gaining admission depends on it because it does.
4. Read Examination Instructions Carefully
Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know what each question entails already. UTME questions are quite tricky, hence, it is paramount to read the instructions and understand them before you begin answering any questions.
This is because most candidates end up giving answers for antonym questions to synonyms, and this is wrong. Opposite in meaning and nearest in meaning are not the same, nor are drama, prose, or poetry the same, so take your time to read through the instructions before attempting to answer any questions.
