The Eastern Cape Office of the Premier, in collaboration with MERSETA, has set aside R70 million to assist young people (18-35) who have COMPLETED studies in MERSETA-related fields by clearing their outstanding student debts.

If you have completed studies in any of the Sector Skills Priority List Qualifications at Nelson Mandela University, Rhodes University, University of Fort Hare, or any of the 8 TVET Colleges in the province (Ingwe, Ikhala, BCC, EMCOL, King Hintsa, KSD, PE College, or Lovedale), we want to hear from you!

Requirements

  • You must be a South African Citizen.
  • You must be from the Eastern Cape.
  • You must have completed a qualification in one of the listed MERSETA-related fields.
  • You must have outstanding debt at any of the participating institutions: Nelson Mandela University, Rhodes University, University of Fort Hare, or any of the 8 TVET Colleges.

How To Apply

Required Documents

  • Clear Copy of ID
  • Learner Agreement Form
  • Completion Letter (Signed and Stamped by the Institution) / Certificate / Academic Record indicating qualification obtained with the date it was obtained.
  • Students who have NOT Completed their studies are not eligible for this initiative.
