The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was established on 1 January 2005, when the Cape Technikon and Peninsula Technikon merged. This merger was part of a national transformation process that transformed the higher education landscape in South Africa.

Job Purpose
- Assist Handyman to execute minor maintenance repairs (and/or new installations) on campus and other designated buildings as well as assisting in moving/arranging furniture & equipment.

- At least two (2) years relevant experience working in a general building or the construction sector
- Driver’s license will be an added advantage
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
- Assisting the Handyman in completion of multi-disciplinary minor maintenance work in academic and residence buildings in the following areas:
- Plumbing works – Unblocking/replacements of toilets, showers, basins, sinks and drains
- Carpentry works – Replacements and minor repairs
- Electric works – Changing of light bulbs and starters
- Painting: – Minor painting work and patching of holes
- Paving work – Repairs to paving distortions caused by various factors
- Client Assistance – Assist with moving/arranging furniture and equipment
- Safety – Ensure that safety measure are observed & report health and safety issues
- Building Inspections – Inspection of buildings to ascertain any faults
- Cleaning – Cleaning of roof sheets, roof gutters and full bores

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer (Permanent):
- A Master’s Degree in Film with a focus on cinematography practices
- At least two (2) years’ relevant teaching experience in Higher Education
Recommendations:
- Substantive knowledge of and skills in sound recording and film aesthetics, film lighting and camera equipment.
- Substantive experience of the standards and practices of the film industry with specific focus on cinematography.
