Job Title: Assistant Handyman (Internal vacancy)

Job Purpose

  • Assist Handyman to execute minor maintenance repairs (and/or new installations) on campus and other designated buildings as well as assisting in moving/arranging furniture & equipment.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Grade 9
  • At least two (2) years relevant experience working in a general building or the construction sector
  • Driver’s license will be an added advantage

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

  • Assisting the Handyman in completion of multi-disciplinary minor maintenance work in academic and residence buildings in the following areas:
  • Plumbing works – Unblocking/replacements of toilets, showers, basins, sinks and drains
  • Carpentry works – Replacements and minor repairs
  • Electric works – Changing of light bulbs and starters
  • Painting: – Minor painting work and patching of holes
  • Paving work – Repairs to paving distortions caused by various factors
  • Client Assistance – Assist with moving/arranging furniture and equipment
  • Safety – Ensure that safety measure are observed & report health and safety issues
  • Building Inspections – Inspection of buildings to ascertain any faults

Job Purpose

  • To teach Film Technology and Design/Cinematography and Film Criticism in the Diploma in Film Production, manage Film Technology and Design specialisations in the Advanced Diploma in Film Production and co-ordinate student projects.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Requirements: Lecturer (Permanent):

  • A Master’s Degree in Film with a focus on cinematography practices
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant teaching experience in Higher Education

Recommendations:

  • Substantive knowledge of and skills in sound recording and film aesthetics, film lighting and camera equipment.
  • Substantive experience of the standards and practices of the film industry with specific focus on cinematography.
