About Centre for Proteomic & Genomic Research

The Centre for Proteomic & Genomic Research (CPGR) is an all-encompassing ecosystem that nurtures and drives OMICS research & innovation in Africa. Based in Cape Town, CPGR exists as a non-profit organization and began in 2006 from an initiative by the South African Department of Science and Innovation (DSI).

CPGR Bursary – Fields Covered

The CPGR Bursary is designed to support South African students pursuing postgraduate degrees (BTech, BSc Hons, MSc, or PhD) in the following fields:

  • Bioinformatics
  • Biological Science
  • Biotechnology
  • Genetics/Human Genetics
  • Medical Biochemistry
  • Medical Bioscience
  • Microbiology/Biochemistry
  • Molecular/Cell Biology.

NOTE: The bursary covers full or partial costs for registration fees and tuition fees.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the CPGR Bursary Programme, you must meet all of the following requirements;

  • Be a South African citizen between the ages of 18 and 29
  • Be enrolled in or applying for a postgraduate degree program in one of the eligible fields at a recognized South African university
  • Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply

Application Forms Must Be Accompanied By:

  • Certified copies of your academic transcripts
  • Certified copies of your South African Identity Document
  • Full academic Record
  • Proof of your address
  • Proof of disability, if applicable (doctor’s note)
