We support university and college leaders, employers, policymakers, and young people to turn evidence into practical solutions and maximize resources.

Title: Communications Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist in targeting social media audiences and engagement efforts.
- Assist in finding new opportunities for promoting digital platforms, such as the African Scholarship Hub.
- Help monitor ESSA’s digital platforms, such as the African Education Research Database to ensure it is functioning.
- Assist in gathering relevant media contacts, keeping track of media coverage and creating regular reports summarising key insights.
- Assist in the planning and execution of both virtual and in-person events.
- Help develop visually appealing and compelling social media content (e.g., graphics, images, and videos).
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Candidates with diploma-level qualifications will also be considered.
Skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on clarity, structure, and professionalism.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Attentive to details.
- Basic skills in Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign/Illustrator) or equivalent software.
- Basic skills in video production and photography.
- Passion for improving education for young people in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Commitment to values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Office 365. Experience with databases (e.g., Excel) would be helpful.
- Ability to work remotely.
