College Of Insurance Courses, Fee Structure, And Admissions 2021…College of Insurance (COI) is Kenya’s number one centre of excellence for courses related to insurance. The institution mainly offers diploma, certificate, and short courses.
After realizing that insurance courses overseas were expensive and less consonant with local needs, the government together with other key players in the insurance industry formed the College of Insurance about 20 years ago. The institution would develop human resource capacity in different companies.
Today, it is one of the most respected institutions specializing in insurance related courses. Below is everything you need to know about the college including the courses offered in the school of insurance, fees structure, requirements, and registration process.

For those who are willing to join in the next intake at the College of Insurance, here are the courses offered as well as the minimum grade requirements to help you identify the courses you have qualified to undertake.
Diploma Courses
- Diploma in Insurance
Chartered Insurance Institute Courses
- Diploma in Insurance (DIPCII)
- Advanced Diploma in Insurance – Diploma in Insurance, A level certificate or a degree in any relevant field.
Certificate Courses
- Craft Course in Insurance (CCI) – D+
- Certificate of Proficiency (COP) – KCSE certificate.
- Executive Certificate of Proficiency in Insurance – Only Mandera County residents, above 18 years and at least KCSE certificate.
- Trustee Development Program
- Award in Bancassurance.
Short Courses
These courses usually last for 3 to 5 days, and therefore the only requirement needed is your interest and fees. Again, you must be having either a certificate, degree, or diploma since the main purpose of the courses is to expand your current professional skills. College Of Insurance Fees Structure
The fees payable depends on the course you want to take. For instance certificate and diploma course, students pay different amounts.
Diploma fees range between Ksh 30,000 to Ksh 60,000 per module. Certificate students pay between Ksh. 20,000 to Ksh. 40,000. Short courses will cost you between Ksh. 20,000 to Ksh 70,000. International students are charged 15% more than the normal fees.
College Of Insurance Application Process And Requirements
If you are interested in taking any of the courses listed above, below is what you need to do.
Application Requirements
- Ksh. 1,000 registration fee for some degree and certificate courses. Ksh. 3,000 for Bancassurance course
- 100% fees in the form of bank cheques to the college account, 110392531 KCB Kipande House Branch. You can also pay via Mpesa paybill no 754914 and enter your registration number as the account number
- Your passport.
- Scanned copies of guardian/sponsor and your ID
- You must have met the minimum grade and age qualifications for the course you are applying to.
Application Process
- Visit the institution website: We recommend using a desktop or a laptop as there is a lot of typing when filling forms.
- Go to the course offered: You can find them easily from the drop-down menu. Once the list appears, click on your preferred course.
- Check whether you have fulfilled all the requirements: This will make sure that you are not rejected and also save your registration fee.
- Click on the apply button: This is visible on the bottom part after the course requirements. The click will take you to the College of Insurance registration forms section.
- Fill in your details: Name, time of the study, preferred training point and your gender are some of the details that will be required.
- Upload a scanned copy of your ID card: Do not upload phone images here.
- Upload your Passport: Make sure it has a white or blue background. Do not upload selfies, make sure the photos are official as they will appear on your school ID.
- Create a password: Choose a strong password that cannot be guessed easily. It should also be memorable – do not write it anywhere, someone can retrieve it.
- Fill in your guardian/ sponsor information: Upload original copies of his/her ID card.
- Provide details of your education background: Fill in your primary, secondary and post-secondary education information. Provide the necessary certificates to support your claims.
- Select course/ units you wish to undertake in the college.
- Verify the information provided: Be careful with this part as all incomplete or wrongly filled forms are returned.
- Fill in your payment details: This can easily be done on the last application page.
Note that:
- The form should be filled in capital letters.
- Only submit original copies of your ID, Passport and any other guardian or sponsor ID.
- Incomplete forms will be returned by the registration department.
- All documents uploaded should be in PDF format only.
