Creating A Self-Service Account.

Before accessing your NHIF statement, you should have an active self-service account. You can create one in just seconds provided you have all the required information like NHIF no, ID number, name and so on. Here is how you can do so:

  • Open Your Data Connection: You will need to connect to any Wi-Fi network or open your data to access the NHIF online portal.
  • Launch Your Browser: Go to your app list, scroll up and down or left and right until you see the browser of your choice. Click on its icon so that it opens. For desktop/laptop users, double-click on any browser software.
  • Go To The NHIF ePayments Self-Service Portal: Key in the epayments address and hit the enter key.
  • Create A New Account: On the top left side, click on the grey button written “+Create Account” and move to the next step.
  • Select The Type Of Account: Choose between an individual or corporate registration.
  • Key In Your Details: Enter your first name, last name, mobile number, and ID number. For corporate, enter employer code and name then follow prompts.
  • Create Your eWallet Pin: Choose a strong pin that cannot be guessed by anyone.
  • Confirm The Pin: Enter the same digits you entered in the above step. Click on the register button so that you are redirected to a new window.

Completing Your Self-Service Portal Profile

You have now successfully created an online account. Next, you should connect it to your NHIF account by updating your profile. Here you will need NHIF and National ID numbers. Use the procedure below to do so.

  • Login To Your Account: Provide the required credentials: your mobile number and eWallet pin.

Obtaining Your NHIF Statement

If you don’t have a smartphone or access to the internet, you can also check your account status via SMS. The service costs Ksh. 10 so make sure you have enough credit on your SIM card. You only have to send an SMS with the letters ID followed by a space and then your ID number to 21101. For example, “ID 123456” without quotation marks.
