Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is the state-run media organisation of Kenya. It broadcasts in English and Swahili, as well as in most local languages of Kenya. The corporation started its life in 1928 when Kenya was a British colony. It was the first station in Kenya.
In 1964, when Kenya became an independent country, the corporation’s name was changed to Voice of Kenya. In 1989, the Kenyan parliament reverted the corporation’s name from Voice of Kenya to Kenya Broadcasting Corporation.
We are recruiting to fill the positions below:
Job Title: Estates Officer
Employment Type: Full Time
Qualification: BA/BSc/HND
Experience: 5 years
Location: Nairobi
Job Field: Real Estate
RE: FIN & ADM /01/11/2021: ESTATES OFFICER – SS BA 3 (1 POSITION)
The Role:
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring that construction and maintenance work is carried out to the required standards, specifications, schedule and within the budget.
Specific Terms:
- Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing construction drawings
- Preparing bills of Quantities
- Conducting site inspections of the ongoing works and checking that building plans are being followed correctly.
- Checking drawings and written instructions and using them as a reference when inspecting the work
- Developing process and works quality checklists and ensuring the inspection is done thoroughly and objectively
- Preparing progress reports
- Identifying defects and suggesting remedial action
- Ascertaining the materials delivered on site meet the specifications and quality standards
- Ensuring that building regulations, health and safety, legal and environmental requirements are met
- Keeping detailed records of various aspects of the work
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of diploma in the field of Building and Construction
- Certificate in AUTOCAD or ARCHICAD
- Must have good spoken and written communication skills
- Must be computer
Minimum Experience
- At least 5 years working experience in the construction industry
- Knowledge of legislation relating to the construction industry
- Have a wide understanding of the building industry, including knowledge of materials, trades and methods of construction
- Working knowledge of good environmental management, health and safety and safe working practices
- Experience in construction management

Job Title: Principal Technical Officer – Production
Employment Type: Full Time

RE: TD/02/11/2021: PRINCIPAL TECHNICAL OFFICER – PRODUCTION – SS BE 3 (1 POSITION)
The Role:
The job holder will be responsible for the oversight of the technical functions, implementation of policies and strategic work plans in the production sections of the technical department. Oversight of monitoring of live broadcast, production studio and control room equipment performance as well as monitoring of signal quality as it is generated, received, processed and distributed for transmission, to ensure high quality broadcasts of both TV and radio signals
Specific Terms:
- Three (3) years renewable contract subject to good performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning on deployment of staff, equipment and resources available in the units and sections
- Coordinating the implementation of all technical strategic work plans in the section
- Planning for installations of broadcast equipment and coordinating the implementation of the same within the section
- Determining training needs of the staff in the section
- Supervising and appraising the CTs in the section.
- Planning for contingencies to avert failure
Operational Responsibilities
- Coordinating the resolving of all discrepancies reported in the sections/ units.
- Providing technical support to Chief Technicians in the production sections
- Preparing and Submitting monthly, quarterly technical reports in the section
- Carrying out inspection and commissioning of technical installations
- Drawing and submitting technical specifications for equipment acquisition and installation
- Participating in tender evaluation process to give guidance on technical requirement on acquisition of technical facilities and equipment.
- Liaising with user departments to offer technical solutions as per the requirement of the user department.
- Coordinating the acquisition of equipment and other facilities for the technical units.
- Recommending equipment for disposal or replacement.
- Designing solutions for unique technical requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Telecommunication engineering
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage
- Registration with any recognized relevant Professional Body is essential
- A high level of computer proficiency
Minimum Experience
- At least six (6) years of working experience in a broadcast environment with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role
- Should be conversant with regulations dealing with broadcast

The Role:
The job holder will be responsible for manning transmission control rooms, OB transmission sites and studios, assisting in carrying out of preventive and corrective maintenance and installation of radio or television broadcast equipment in the studios or transmitting stations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating broadcast equipment in studios, control rooms and OB sites and transmitting stations
- Assisting in resolving of transmission discrepancies
- Carrying out preventive maintenance on equipment as per schedule
- Assisting in corrective maintenance of equipment
- Assisting in equipment installations and alignments in the transmitting sites and studios
- Monitoring the quality of signal in the control rooms, studios /OB sites or transmitters
- Entering occurrences in the technical services daily log.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Telecommunication or related field
- Membership to registered and regulated professional body is essential
- Must be computer literate
- Telecommunication Technician certificate.
Minimum Experience
- At least two (2) years of work experience (Bachelor’s degree) / three (3) years work experience (Diploma)

The Role:
The job holder is responsible for operating broadcast equipment.
Specific Terms:
- Six (6) months renewable contract subject to good performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating Cameras, program lighting and VTR operation.
- Vision and audio mixers and station master mixing
- Preparing of studio prior to recording
- Operating broadcast equipment in the sound production studios as per provided bookings.
- Monitoring quality of audio during recordings or editing.
- Entering activities in the daily logs.
- Ensuring details of the recording are correctly captured for retrieval
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Film/Video productions, Media Technology, Mass Communication (Electronic Media).
- Membership to a registered and regulated professional body is essential
- Must be computer literate
